At least 77 die in India when train plunges into river

VELIGONDA, India (AP) — A passenger train plunged into a rain-swollen river in southern India early Saturday, killing at least 77 people and trapping dozens more inside the derailed cars, officials said.
About 100 injured passengers were rescued from the coaches, which derailed after floods washed away the tracks in the town of Veligonda in Andhra Pradesh state.

Shouldnt the trains have stopped... at least when the river was over flowing?
Too bad 77 lives were lost.

Stoping a train is not a easy matter. As reported a dam breached and the water gushed out. We will know the exact casualty figure by tomorrow.
We also have a serial bomb blast in Delhi claiming a lot of lives. I am at the twilight of my live & I am worried about the lives of my daughters & many young people who would inherit this wonderful planet. May Lord Shiva save us.

News just on, on RTE TV in Ireland and states that over 100 have lost their lives and many, many are still trapped in the overturned, stacked up coaches. We certainly have much to pray about for the safety of those trapped tonight and the families of those dear people whose lives came to such a tragic end this day in AP and also Delhi. God help us all

Serial blasts rock Delhi, nearly 50 dead

Saturday, October 29, 2005 (New Delhi):

A series of explosions rocked Delhi on Saturday evening, killing at least 50 people and leaving 80 injured, 14 of them critically.

As many as 20 people have been killed in an explosion in Sarojini Nagar market and 15 others have reportedly been killed in Paharganj.

The markets were filled with shoppers doing their last-minute purchases for Diwali.

Most of those injured or killed in the explosions were ordinary people out shopping in the festival season.
