Just seen something on the news here UK.

and I was wondering if anyone has any further info? or advice about traveling through.

Been to the foreign office web site but no warnings to avoid or anything there.

I turned the TV on and just caught the last bit....

But it was actually reffering to a meeting to discuss this and the meeting was held in Delhi.

So sorry about that, didnt mean to scare monger.

There was a bomb scare earlier today, and reports of terrorist threats against IGI airport (and others). Other than that, business as usual.

Feels rather fragile though, I have to say.

I`ve just read in the telegraph that indian airports are on high alert following a letter to one of the news agencies there threatening more terrorists attacks.
Security has been stepped up so lets hope there are no problems.

Yes, there seem to be 2 things going on. One was an email to IGI airport threatening bombs at IGI, Bangalore and Chennai airports, and a separate warning of a "9/11 style attack".
See the Times of India for more.

Moving this to the News and COmmentary forum given its potential impact on travel.

I guess with the state India finds itself in at the present time, issuing red alert is a bit pointless. It's time India remained on perennial red alert.

From this morning's paper, email(s) have been received warning of possible hijackings at a number of Indian airports.

Chennai airport and surroundings will be crawling with police and security staff for the foreseeable future. Even the flyover on the main road outside the airport is to have a police presence.

Travellers should expect to take longer getting in and out of airports.

Lots of conflicting reports of happenings at Delhi airport:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/7766139.stm

"The police force in charge of security at Delhi's main airport has denied reports that people have been shot and injured there."
