Air Crash Kills Movie Star
NEW DELHI (AP) - A Indian movie star and three other people were killed when their plane crashed in southern India on Saturday, news reports said.
Actress Soundrya, who has been campaigning for Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's Bharatiya Janata Party, was on her way to an election rally, the Star News television channel said. The plane caught fire minutes after it took off from Bangalore, and crashed about 1,000 miles south of New Delhi, the report said. The dead also included the pilot of the chartered aircraft, Soundrya's brother and an official from Vajpayee's party, party spokesman Amitabh Sinha said. The cause of the crash was not yet known, the report quoted Bangalore's police chief as saying. |

Soundarya was a popular heroine of South Indian films. Her claim to fame in Bollywood was having starred opposite Amitabh Bachchan in the Hindi re-make of the film "Suryavansham".
