8 blasts confirmed - the majority in 1rst class compartments, at least 137 dead, 300 seriously injured, 50 minor injuries.
Looks like plastic explosives ....

I wonder if this story a few months ago is relative?

Hi guys! My prayers are with those families who lost loved ones in the bombings. So unnecessary! The news was splashed all over the South African television stations!

There are better ways to stop terrorists than shoot every1 that you suspect.
We have fought long and hard for civil rights... I am not prepared to live in a police state because of terrorists.
That would be giving them what exactly what they want... they want you to fear, to feel vulnerable, to lose faith in your government and way of life.
I'm not saying I agree with the "shoot on sight" angle. I don't. But can you honestly say 1 life is equal to 1000 lives? That's not saying that, that one persons life is insignificant, but if it took killing 1 person to save a thousand, you don't think it's worth it? If you didn't kill that 1 person, isn't that the same as killing 999 people? just passively? Is it just a question of how much blood is on your hands at the end of the day?

I just returned home after trying to go to work in the night shift but the trains on the Western Railway were not running after the blasts and the roads were blocked totally so nothing moving at all. All traffic was just waiting for hours on end with not even a crawling movement visible. People were waiting outside their vehicles for hours. Sadly returned home and am now online. About 137 people have died and many more injured in the 8 blasts that took place all on the western railway all over Mumbai city. May peace prevail and those injured get well soon, sad to hear about the loss of lives and courage to those who lost their near and dear ones. Just wish this crazy violence would stop someday soon.

Aadil.

From Rediff First Person Reports

"
God bless Mumbai. I am travelling home at this time, as are hundreds of Mumbaikars. But the most fascinating sight is of hundreds of people who are on the roads -- not demonstrating, but offering water and biscuits. This is incredible Mumbai. Kids, girls, women, young men, old people -- all are trying to feed the hungry and quench the thirst of the thirsty.

Channel 4 News here in the UK are reporting as many as 160 dead.

I worry deeply for the future of Mumbai and India now.

Shanti, shanti ... Please.

Unhappy 8 Bomb Blasts in Bombay

Since it was not readily apparent from SMARTGUY's post, I thought I'd bring this to everyone's attention.

It's being reported by every news agency as the main headline.
