On Beach Number Seven, on Havelock, there are massively huge trees. Can dig up some photos later.
Havelock is pure beauty. Beach no. 7 aka as Radhanagar Beach was declared Best Beach in Asia few years ago.

Sattal, Uttarakhand

Sattal in Uttarakhand is the most beautiful place and ideal for your requirement. Check out Naveen's Glen in suriya gaon.

Yes. As bad as its been in a long time. And unlikely to get better anytime soon.

To add to the mess, all traffic was stopped into the valley a couple of days ago after Sabzar Bhat's killing. Some sporadic movement has taken place, though. And curfews, restrictions, tension is high.

It depends on where you leave? Yo can plan 3-4 days tour in Pune Maharastra.
Day 1 - Mahabaleshwar
Day 2- Lonawala, Khandala
Day 3 - Matheran
Day 4 You can spent in Matheran itself or nearby

Nobody has suggested crossing the border ?

How about Myanmar ? Yes, it would be rainy (especially in July) but therefore not as expensive as at other times of year.

During monsoon, you can visit places where the trip will be more attractive with rain. I suggest you:

1. Khamakhya-Shillong-Cherrapunjee-Mawlynnong-Mawphlang Grove
2. Darinbadi-Satkosia
3. Vizag-Araku-Jagdalpur-Chitrakoot

Go to Uzbekistan. Direct flights from Delhi and nearby. What i hear is that it isn't expensive. And the people are very friendly. Can share my daughter's itinerary if interested. She went there last year.

On the track that Earthian has taken, I'd suggest Iran too (based on stuff I'm looking at). Airfares are about 50% of Uzbekistan and I guess the currencies are pretty much equivalent.

How about a visit to Kutch?

Tamil Nadu was another destination being spoken about for monsoons. Have you been to Rameshwaram and nearby?
