| what would be a good itinerary and how much is it likely to cost? Hello, I am planning to go to India from June until September in 2009. Hopefully I am going to be able to secure a volunteer placement in Almora. I hope to stay here for the majority of my trip. However I am hoping to have 4 weeks or so to myself afterwards and would like to see as much of the country that I can. I'd quite like to get to Darjeeling and varanasi and then work my way back from there making sure i get to Agra and Jaipur on the way back to Delhi where I fly home from. Unless I meet people there I will be travelling alone and am very nevous about this. My friend lived in India for a while and she travelled 2nd class and said she got hassled a bit and even had her money belt cut off her. Do you think it would be better travelling 1AC? How much is this likely to cost and where else do you think I should include on this journey? Thanks Anna Thanks You xxx Last edited by annab1984; Dec 7th, 2008 at 06:24.. |

| mmmmm... very difficult to say, as room costs can range from as low as 150rps a night and up. the highest i paid was 1,000rps but on average i'd say 500rps. a lot depends on your preferences. if you eat indian meals, costs are very low. breakfast might only cost around 25rps. at a touristy place i pais 60rps for tomato and cheese toasted sandwiches. that's just a small example and i am not sure what that is in pounds or euros.there is bound to be a brit to add to this info. |
