What way to go & how? Varkala-Madurai-Pondicherry-Chennai-Otty-Mysore-Hampi-Goa-Mumba
hey hey
Currently travelling around India with my girlfriend, have been here a week and loving it so far. We arrived in Fort Kochi, have been to the backwaters and currently chilling out in Varkala....want to head but still unsure of our route....I have a rough idea but it might be easier to do this in a different combination, any suggestions or comments would be great, if I am missing a place that is amazing and on my route please say so.....many thanks for all your help...this is my first thread.....
so this is what im thinking, over about 3-4 weeks, maybe a bit more time in Goa, realistic?
from Varkala to Madurai-Pondicherry-Mahabalipuram-Chennai-Otty-Mysore-Hampi-Goa-Mumbai
would you recommend Bangalore???
Thanks

Just a sugggestion but how about, seeing as you are so close already, pop down to Kanyakumari and see the tip of India. The temple there is fantastic and, when I was there last month, there were no other western tourists about.

If you decide against going to Kanyakumari, the following train may be useful if you don't mins Sleeper Class (not air con).
Train 728 departs Varkala daily at 18:40 and gets to Madurai at 05:20
It will cost Rs106
25th has 12 berths remaining, each day after that has about 200.
Take a bus/rickshaw to the station and get your tickets, then relax.
The route you suggested looks good, but make sure you're not departing Chennai for Ooty on a friday or a saturday.
