What to do during monsoon season?

I'll be there at the end of June and for July. Where should I go?
(I'm sure there's already a thread about this but I can't find it, other than the thread about Goa not being so fun in the rain. )

Also, where would the weather be best to practice yoga? Rishikesh, Mysore or Bangalore?

I'm getting inconsistent advice from people round here.

Thanks so much!!

I would say Mysore. Bangalore might get less Rain, but Mysore is a better place to Practice Yoga.

Rishikesh and Mysore are well known Yoga centers. Weather in Mysore will be much comfortable than Rishikesh when it rains, but the charm of a quiet and beautiful setup with the Ganges flowing down the valley can't be had in Mysore. So, you choose!

Goa aint that bad in the rain, its quieter than usual, but you can still keep yourself entertained. If youre the adventurous type then get out into the countryside during the rains (theres nothing like getting stuck in a flood in a small town!), or if not then spend more time in the large metros and surrounding areas.

I'll leave it to others to tell about the yoga...

The nature of advice

can be very often (most often?) be inconsistent. Words like "best" are hard to quantify, let alone agree on. What rocks your boat might sink mine. Choices seem to me (considering that you're traveling in June/July) to be something like this: do you like hot rain, warm rain or cool rain? I went to Varanasi last year for six months, from February through August, specifically FOR the monsoon. Hot and humid? You betcha! Did I have an amazing time? Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Just something about doing yoga in 48 degree/98% humidity weather . . .
