| Varanasi + Rajasthan in 9 days I just secured ten unexpected vacation days and plan to leave this upcoming Saturday for my first and a very spontaneous trip to India! I tried to squeeze in Jaiselmer but realized the distance would cripple me and that a camel ride in Pushkar might also give me a tiny taste of what I'd be missing? Indiamike.com has been instrumental in my hurried planning, so thank you all. Sincerely. If anyone feels like reviewing my intended itinerary for feasibility, or suggest changes, I'm TOTALLY open to ideas and would love feedback. I put in two intra-India plane flights to save on time but have not purchased flights yet so my itinerary is still fluid. I realize full well that I will be sprinting through the country rather than smelling the roses but with such limited time... Again, many thanks. Sunday nite - arrive Delhi 8:30PM, sleep at airport hotel Monday at noon - fly to Varanassi Tuesday - Varanassi Wednesday night - overnight train (4863 or 4864) to Agra (**do I need 2.5 days in Varanassi or should I shave one off and save for a random Rajasthan day trip??) Thurs - arrive at dawn in Agra. See taj mahal. Take train 2965 to from Agra Fort to Jaipur at 17:35, arrive 22:20. Friday - Jaipur Saturday - Hire a cab from Jaipur to Pushkar (2 hrs). Go for a sunset camel ride. Sunday - Hire a cab / take a bus from Pushkar (hopefully doable??) to Udaipur (4 hrs), as there are no direct trains, arrive Udaipur afternoon Monday - Udaipur Tuesday - fly from Udaipur to Delhi, arriving 4:40PM. kill time (maybe go into Delhi if easy???) until 12AM flight back to USA. |

| Angelino - I have moved your thread into the India Travel Itinerary Advice as you can see. Your full day in Agra should enable you to see most sights including Fatehpur Sikri if you hire some transport to get there. I would suggest you hire a car in Jaipur all the way through to Udaipur, the reason being you can get around and see more with your own car in a shorter length of time. You would need to pay the return cost back to Jaipur for the car.

| You must look careful to the trains between Varanasi and Agra for the day you want to travel. As you can see on http://erail.in?T=BSB::AGA: many of them have already a wait list. |

| Varanasi-Agra There is availablity in 2-tier air con and 3-tier air con on train 4853 for the 21st, but it's on the Foreigh Tourist quota and you can only book these tickets in India. Go to New Delhi train station when you get to Delhi and look for the foreign tourist reservation office, it's on the first floor above the main entrance, don't listen to any tout who tries to tell you it's moved or closed down. Agra-Pushkar Ajmer is the closest train station to Pushkar, it something like 25kms away. The following train is worth considering as it has a chance of being late (starts from Kolkatta) and it terminates at Ajmer, it has availability in 3-tier air con for the 22nd. Train 2985, Agra Fort 20.10, Ajmer 03.50 Ajmer-Udaipur There are trains from Ajmer to Udaipur, the following 2 may interest you. Train 2992, Ajmer 15.55, Udaipur 21.20 (availability in air con chair car for 25th) Train 2965, Ajmer 00:50, Udaipur 06:10 (availability in non air con Sleeper Class for 25th) |
