we are 9 people including 4 children and one elderly going to mata vaishno devi. we will start from delhi on 12th march by rajdhani ,train will reach 13th morning to jammu. I just have the following queries
1. 3 of 5 tickets of 3 tier AC in tatkal were confirmed and other 2 as wait-list 1 and 2. What are the chances of getting confirmed.
2. how much time it will took us to reach KATRA FROM JAMMU. I GUESS IT IS 40 KMS. WHAT IS THE BEST MODE-BUS/TAXI
3. FROM KATRA TO VAISHNO DEVI WHAT ARE THE OPTIONS -I HEARD OF-
-- TREKKING
-- PITTHU
-- PONY
-- HELICOPTER
-- AUTO
4.ARE THESE ALL SERVICES AVAILABLE FROM KATRA ITSELF TO MATA VAISHNO TEMPLE
5.ELSE WHERE , IT IS MENTIONED THAT IF WE BYPASS ARDHKWARI WE CAN REDUCE THE DISTANCE. SO WHAT IS THAT ALTERNATE ROUTE.
6.WE WANT ELDERLY TO GO BY AUTO OR HELICOPTER AND KIDS BY EITHER PONY OR AUTO WITH ONE ELDERLY.
7. Does AUTO service available to everyone or only elderly people
8. I heard you can get priority dharshan by buying the ticket for Rs 250 etc...
4.HOW MUCH TIME IT TOOK TO REACH BY TREK/PONY/HELICOPTER/AUTO.
5.WILL IT BE ADVISABLE TO START ON 13TH ITSELF FROM KATRA.
6. IS IT POSSIBLE TO REACH BACK BY 13TH OR DO WE NEED TO STAY ONE DAY(NIGHT) AT MATA VAISHNO DEVI AND START BACK NEXT DAY
7. Don't see any accommodation available except Saraswati Dham Dormitory at Jammu and Shakti Bhawan Dormitory at katra. So which place might be good to stay after coming back to spend night

There is no auto operating on the trekking route.
There is a battery operated mini-bus service which is available for half the distance along a new track. It is meant for elderly and sick people only.
Pithu is an option for small kids - basically a man carries her on the back and takes care of her.
Palki is like a small cot meant to carry an elderly lady or gent.
Ponies are there for everyone who finds them comfortable.
Staircases have been built into the hill side or else you can walk up the incline.
