un-planned journey ... :cloud9:
Hello all, I also take my chance to propose my itinerary and see what you think. I planned in chunks as I don't know how much sense it makes to micro-pre-think a journey.. especially in India....
so, 6 weeks, alone, first time in India, from OCT 14 to NOV 25 October 15th - 18th (4 nights) : Mumbai visiting old friends. 19th - 1st (14 nights) : Rajasthan November 2nd - 8th (7 nights) : Rishikesh/Haridwar (yoga perhaps) 9th - 15th (7 nights) : Varanasi, Kolkata and other things in between (Khajuraho...) 16th - 20th (5 nights) : Relax in Darjeeling or Puri (will decide at the last moment) 21st - 24th (3 nights) : Delhi + Agra I hated to leave out Amritsar, Dharamsala and Kashmir but I think that will be another trip. Or, do you think I overstay somewhere and should make an effort to at least go to Amritsar (I hear it's magic?). Thank you for your thoughts! |

Hi Ocean.. I guess Rajasthan will be the usual itinerary. Being my first trip in India I won't be original, I guess I will enjoy being a tourist and look around a bit...
I put down a few landmarks and (*) where I will sleep: Jaipur Bikaner (*) Jaisalmer (*) Jodhpur Ranakpur (*) Udaipur (*) Bundi Jhalawar (*) Pushkar (*) Jaipur It will probably be a combination of road and rail to move from one (*) to another. Please, feel free to comment and reccomend experiences . . . Thanks for your thoughts! |

Ranakpur is well worth the visit, it's stunning.
Have a look at my tour that I did on the Where In The World page of my blog. It may help a little. I thoroughly recommend Keoladeo even if you think you don't like birdwatching, it's a nice relaxing green place. Last edited by OceanTragic : Jun 12th, 2009 at 12:17. |

But if you mean by Jhalawar the town in East Rajasthan your plan seems not realistic. Bundi lies between Jhalawar and Bundi so it is a lot of back tracking. We stayed this February some days in Jhalawar. The place and the nearby Jhalarpatan are nice but not worth the detour on a one day trip. |
