Two months
Arriving Delhi 10 October (11 PM of course). Return scheduled from Mumbai 20 December, 1 AM.
What do you think I should add/delete: Delhi (ca. one week) Jaipur Ranthambore (but closed?) Agra Amritsar Varansi Sarnath(?) Bodh Gaya(?) Darjeeling (train) Sikkim??? Kanchenjunga, Everest sighting?! Guwahati (for Kaziranga, Kamakhya temple, tribals) Kolkata? Konarak Orissa tribals? Chennai Mamallapuram Sravana Belgola Coonoor/Ooty (train) Backwaters? Goa Ajanta, Ellora Mumbai Rajasthan proper, Ladakh/Leh, Mussoorie, Bangla Desh, Lahore (Kim's Zamzammah!) will have to wait but are listed. Constraints: Train at least for Delhi-Amritsar and the Triangle; no limit on air travel. As few buses as ever possible. I'm 63, reasonably fit, and plan to go with a 65 l backpack; my travel partner ("daughter") is 25, fit and used to backpacking. 3 gurdwaras (Sis Ganj, Bangla, Harmandir Sahib, for a university course report as well as for real interest) and lots of temples etc. (me), some wildlife and adivasis (both) and a beach (her). |
