Trip to Maharashtra
Hello,
I just returned from an 8 day Tamil Nadu tour by TTDC, as recommended by IMers. It was a great trip!!! I recommend their tours...professional & absolute value for money! So, now I'm planning my next trip back to India... I'm welcoming any advice/suggestions regarding the following rough itinerary for a trip in December I'm trying to plan... School holidays limits me to only 9 days or so I'll be departing from Colombo, Sri Lanka so nice short flights! CMB-MAA > India Air Express 13Dec 09:55-11:15 MAA-BOM > Spicejet (flight around 2pm I think) Mumbai > Pune (rtn) by train (Sahyadri Express) Two days sightseeing in Pune Mumbai > Aurangabad (rtn) by train (Devagiri Express) Two days sightseeing - Ajanta & Ellora Caves Mumbai - Three days sightseeing, Reality Day Tour, Elephanta, etc... BOM-MAA > Spicejet 23Dec (o/n in Chennai) MAA-CMB > India Air Express 24 Dec 07:30-08:50 Any ideas/recommendations??? Thankyou Rydah |

Thankyou for your suggestions!
Any recommendations for tours around Ajanta & Ellora? I would prefer to book tours online before I go, does anyone know how I can do this? Thanks again! |

Skip Pune / Mumbai altogether or keep it to the minimum, and as edward says, more time in A'bad.
You can also visit the Lonar meteorite crater from there, its a 5hr drive - 2nd largest met. crater in the world. Once you reach Aurangabad, you will not miss every tourist agency offering tours of Ajanta, Ellora, Lonar etc. Also see the ruined Daulatabad fort on the way to or from Ellora, it is worth a visit. There are regular coach tours or if your budget permits, hire a private taxi. |

Lonar is a must if you are visiting aurangabad. There is an old temple of Mahadev (shiv) (Ghrishneshwar) near Ellora or Verul as it is called in Marathi. Bibi ka makabara, a small replica of Tajmahal also can be seen in Aurangabad. Konkan is having good beaches. Many forts can be visited from Pune. But since you do not have more no. of days, the program you have chalked out is OK.
