Welcome to IM
![]() Kumarakom is a lovely place, and a great honeymoon destination ---there's not that much to do except get carried away by the natural beauty of the place. And each other of course! You can get there by boat from Allepey. You could even do a one-way backwater cruise, I guess. One of our local members should be along with better advise soon. |

Cochin to Munnar.
If you are coming by train from north or from airport head for Alwaye (Aluva ). From Aluva there are plenty of buses to Munnar.
Alwaye ----Perumbavoor ----Kothamangalam ---------Adimaly ----Munnar. Cochin ----Alwaye ----Perumbavoor ----Kothamangalam ---------Adimaly ----Munnar. Alternatively Cochin ---------Muvattupuzha ----Kothamangalam ---------Adimaly ----Munnar. |

Kumarakom
I think you have the perfect itinerary..
We did Munnar, Kumarakom and Cochin (in that order) and it felt perfect..the diversity of these three places is nice, but what I loved about Kerala is the friendliness of the people. I'd strongly recommend Kumarakom over Allepy to spend a coupld of days in.WE didn't do the houseboat thingy.Instead we hired a small boat which can be rowed by one person manually- we hired the rower obviously .We were thus able to go inside a lovely bird sanctuary in the backwaters and we saw some incredible birds. You can go to some really remote parts of the backwaters using these manual small boats. The guy even took us to his village and we got off the boat and had some fantastic coconut water. Its a really magical place. Cochin & Munnar are lovely too. Enjoy your honeymoon! |

book in advance
I t is better to book in advacne . So you can go direclty to yoru room once you are in Munnar. Looking for hotels in the evening is not a nice thing to do if you are going to travel with a lady. Also the Munnar town has limited mid range places.
There are lot of places on the way to Munnar. Away from the crowds of Munnar, One such beautifull homestay is there called Rose Gardens. Just two rooms managed by a friendly couple . Lot other accomodations are there. It is advsiable to book in advance. Enjoy your journey |

I agree with Haritha.Book in advance for a Hotel in Munnar.Try to get a Hotel up in he hills rather than in the twon center which is at the foothills. The views are incredible. It is quite a popular tourist destination with people especially from Mumbai coming in large groups.

Agree with Eve. Just got back from The Pimenta - Haritha Farms. It was amazing!
If you're on a honeymoon, this would make a great base to explore lots of different areas as it's near Munnar, Cochin, backwaters, etc... |
