Travel Itinerary for Ladakh

Hello Friends

I am a new member on this website, which I believe is a really decent website for all those who need help in knowing something in relation to their queries. This website is also very informative and the members of this website are really very nice.

We (three of us) live in Dubai and we are planning to visit Ladakh this year for about 10-12 days. I would be grateful if you could please assist me in preparing my itinerary including details of trains, hotels, the places to visit, best time to visit (although we are intending to visit either in July or August this year), any tips re: do’s and don’t, etc.

Hallo Mercurie, welcome on IM!

I will be in Ladakh in August too and I have my itinerary clear in my mind....the difficult will be to put it on the road!!

First of all: no trains! If you want to reach Leh you have two ways: a flight from Delhi (or Srinagar and Chandighar maybe);by road from Srinagar or Manali. These are all the information I can give you for now.

Hi Serena

Many thanks for your reply to my post. Well, I am also trying to find out from the travel agents in India, but they seem very expensive when they know that we are travelling from abroad. It seems that August is the best month to travel to Ladakh. I will surely see you in Ladakh in August, if all goes well with my plans for that month.

Hi there

Thank you for your reply to my post. I saw the website which you suggested. The itinerary seems fine, but just wanted to make sure that I am not left with any good place to see there during 12 days tour. I heard that Nubra Valley is a nice place to go as well.

Hi Mercurie, the best month to visit Ladakh is in the month of August. Must see places in Ladakh include, Pangong tso, tso moriri, Nubra valley. but there is so much to visit and no matter how much time you have, it always seems too less.

Quickest way to reach leh would be to take the Arial route, but the land journey (esp through Manali) is a treat it self. You will have lots of fun, no matter which way you travel.

Hi Yogesh, thank you for your response to my post. I have noted about the places suggested by you. I visited your website also and can see that you must have had a good time travelling to Ladakh by road that too on your motor bike. So August (as inteded by us) seems a good month to visit Ladakh. I would welcome any more tipe you may have in relation to Ladakh. Thanks buddy.

Thanks Mercurie, the best advice I can give you is, please do not rush things while in Ladakh. Give yourself ample time to explore places, rather then trying to squeeze every thing in.

Ladakh is situated at high altitude so give your self ample time to acclimatize. Other then that, just go out there and enjoy
