Travel in South India

Hi,
We are planning a south India trip for about 3 weeks. our plan is to go to Coimbatore, Kumbakonam and Kerala. I have tried finding out the best way to go and the easiest way to start from A to B to C. We will make the flight out of Bombay. Initially we might go to KMU but that requires flying to Trichy and there seem to be no direct flights to Trichy(one has to stopover at Chennai and we would like to avoid that.
Can anyone suggest how we can go about travelling?. If we travel by train, how can we do so?. Its rather difiicult to find the itinary/schedule of trains!.
Option :
Go to KMU, take a train/bus to Coimbatore and then on to Kerala(Ernakulam) by bus/trainWould that be feasible?.

Thanks a lot.

You're itinerary is a bit unusual as it bypasses so many places that are either beautiful or culturally interesting in between. May I ask why you decided on these 3 places?

KMU: my inlaws live there so we need to visit them.

CBE: We plan to visit the ISHA YOGA CENTRE in Coimbatore and so plan to stay a few days. I know we could do a few excursions from there.

EKM: its not very far fromCBE and Kerala is so diff from TN. My husband has never been there so we decided we could go there for a week. I know its the monsoon, but we cant go any other time to India(my son has summer break only now).

I know its unusual and that why I am finding it hard to get train connections. The main problem is connecting KMU and EKM. If nothing works out, maybe I'll skip EKM and pick another place closer to CBE.

Thanks for taking time to write. If you can suggest someother place it would be gr8.

KMU, CBE, EKM?

I do wish people wouldn't talk in abbreviations that don't mean anything to most people. I know we can find out what you mean by going back to the first post, but it's much nicer to use full place names, with exception of the colloquially common ones like "Pondy" rather than the ones that either are, or look like, airport codes.

...Just a friendly gripe

Hi Nick,

totally agree with you. I happened to post it early this morn and I thought I was alone!. Both my kids came in and started their usual fights/screams!. Sorry about that.

@ Nick.....
I was going to ask what all those initials were for....

If you have reletives there why not ask them to find this out as they are local and would be able to at least get an up to date train time table.
