?

Hmmm. I'm relatively new to this forum. Earlier today, I posted in this thread to try to help answer a question. But now I see that my post has been deleted. As moderators of the world's largest photographer forums, I always pay attention to the rules on forums, since I often have to moderate people myself. So I guess I don't know what I did wrong.

Someone asked for a travel agent. I told the one I used in January and my experience with them. This got deleted.

All of this is fine, but I really don't like making mistakes, so can someone please let me know what I did incorrectly?

Thanks so much,

Dina

Mod note

DinaD, no post of yours has been deleted. Maybe you had some other difficulties, since you have posted subsequently.

Please try and post again, and let me know (here, or PM) if the problem persists.

PS: Excellent photographs, by the way.

Thanks, Captain. I thought I had seen my post after I posted, but . . . maybe I didn't. In any case, glad to know that I didn't do anything wrong. Let me try again. And thanks for the kind words about my work.

Ashwendy, when I traveled to India in January, I asked some of my clients to help me find a travel agency. One of them referred me to her uncle, who is a general in India, and he referred me to Caair Travels. They were great to work with. They booked my in-India flights and train tickets, ensured that drivers met me wherever I ended up, and arranged for day-tour guides on the days that I asked for them. One of their reps also met me at the hotel (to go over the tickets and the itinerary) after their driver brought me their from the airport.

The one thing I didn't care for seems to be standard with India tourism. And that is that the day-tour guides all took us to a touristy shopping place at the end of the tour. The guides and the driver get paid to take you to these shopping centers, so while I will use Caair again, I will make sure to tell them that I do not want to be taken to any shopping centers. I prefer to walk through the markets and shops on my own, rather than go to the touristy shopping centers.

Here is the info. I'm in LA, so I've only used them once. But I am planning to contact them again to help with certain aspects of my forthcoming trip (in February). Hope this helps.

One more thing: It will probably help if you tell them your budget, how many stars you want for your hotels, etc. In some cities, we wanted Oberoi properties, and in others, we were more modest. They could have chosen everything for me, but in some cities, there were certain places I wanted to stay. The Amarvillas in Agra was listed as "sold out" on their web site, but Caair was able to get me a room there for two nights. You probably would just need to tell them whether you wanted cheap accommodations, expensive ones, what class train tickets you wanted, etc.

You know the saying, how long is a piece of string? Like asking how much does a car cost, or how much does it cost to go by train.

Its just a gentle nudge to point out that questions have to be less vague before anyone can answer them.

You seem to be getting there

Travel Agents

I have everything finalized and ready to book a 22 day trip thru a travel agent costing approx 235000 Rs. The question is: how do I know this is a good travel agency and so on? Is there any rating service? I am going to charge it on credit card so am safer that way but I want the trip to be well-organized, not just empty promises - TIA.
