Does anyone know if there is any other train than this one
4060 JSM DLI EXPRESS 16:45 21:50
which arrives Jodhpur very late at night. I am flexible to go either on Monday 28 June or 29
Thank you.

There is also the overnight Jaisalmer - Jodhpur which departs around 11 p.m. and arrives around 5.30 a.m. in Jodhpur.

Buses go throughout the day and are faster than the trains. They depart about every hour, sometimes half hour, from very early morning from Hanuman circle, and after 8.30 a.m. from Air Force Circle. You can book these the day before you travel.
Every cloud has a silver lining!

Thank you very much Aishah for the info on buses. Is the road from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur in good condition? We prefered to sleep on the train and save one hotel night. Found the train you mentioned (#4809) on Cleartrip but not on this site http://www.irctc.co.in/ Would you kindly forward the link to the site you were looking at. I read a few negative comments about Cleartrip and suppose it is safer to book directly on the gov site.

I wasn't looking at a site at the time - just know this train goes every night of the week! It should be on that railways website - I shall go and check for you now!

Yes it's there but you need to select AC 3 tier class or below because it doesn't have AC 2 tier or 1st class a/c. It will then come up for you.

The road between Jaisalmer and Jodhpur is excellent - as good as any in Oz or NZ! This is because it is well maintained for the army, so they can reach the border areas rapidly if the need arises. If you drove by car you can do the journey in four and a half hours which includes a half hour stop halfway for a break.

Thank you Aishah. I just tried with AC3 and it worked. But I will follow your advice and take the road. Will hire a taxi then. Best regards

The cheaper options are bus or train - a taxi will cost you approx. 2,500 minimum because you have to pay the return journey. However if you book near the Fort parking area (outside the Fort and just a little down from it) there is Lucky Tours offering something like 1500 - 1800 rupees. They try to get a taxi which is doing a return journey back to Jodhpur for you.
