the very 1st india trip - mumbai vs delhi
me and my friend are plaining a bit "longer" trip to india - without any time limits - maybe 3 weks, maybe 3 months, maybe 3 years
we are thinking of applying for a one-year-visa at least, perhaps even for a 5-yrs one (the web site of the indian embassy in croatia says its possible for croatian sitizens), still subject to debate between two of us - anyway, we've started searching for flights and will buy tickets very soon, so some of the questions re planing have risen up - we plan on coming to india in early september, the question's now should our very 1st entry point to india be mumbai or delhi? we dont have a detailed itinerary and are not planing on doing one either, since we've thought of this trip as a time&place-limitless, we just have a general idea what do to - we plan on starting north and then doing the - more or less - U-shaped route going further south all to way to kerala and tamilnadu and then up again, towards north - everything included - big cities, small towns, cultural/historical/spiritual/biological/etc. heritage... the question is now - since we'll be buying our flight tickets very soon - whether to choose delhi or mumbai first, regarding the weather and (post)monsoon period - we certainly intend on avoiding hot hot hot weather periods and visit the very south regions during january/february this way we could also make a short hop to sri lanka in order to leave and re-enter the country upon 180-day-stay-limit and continue on towards northern regions..i know my question is maybe a bit too hard to answer in a simple way (too many unspecified factors), but i hope you got the general idea of what we're trying to figure out re planing! any advice would be appreciated, guys! thanks a lot cheers |

Yep, its a pretty open-ended (or, more appropriately, 'open-beginged' question) but some one may have a pointer or two for you. Checking out the climate and not being in too much heat or too much rain is something to think about.
Are you sure tourist visas are available for more than six months? Please excuse me doubting what you have seen with your own eyes, but haven't previously heard of anywhere except USA where such a thing is possible!

yes, i need to check on that, nick! it's the beginning of collecting of all the necessary information now, so i'm still not thoroughly exploring everything - it was just general information on the embassy's web page - will contact them to get the right answer!
