the transporation from Mysore to Ooty and Ooty to Ernakulam?

It seems the directest way to get the three place is by bus. But we've heard about the steep gradient on the road. We're thinking about taking train though it should be time-consuming.

Does anyone tell me if we want to get Ooty from Mysore, which will be the safest way to adopt? And also the transporation between Ooty and Ernakulam? It seems there is no direct train on the route, so which station should we go to change the train?

From Mysore to Ooty the only option is Bus. It's 160kms & around 3 1/2 hours running time. Bandipur & Mudumalai Sanctuaries are en-route in this road.

The steep Gradient road you talks about comes into picture if you travel by car. From Masinagudi there is a steep road to ooty with 36 Hair pin bends (Steepest in south india). But the public buses will travel via only Masinagudi, Gudalur to reach ooty with Roads after Masinagudi is poorer.

From ooty, Catch a bus to coimbatore (100 kms , 3hours, frequency is more ) OR take the much famous Toy-train upto Mettupalaiyam followed by a bus to coimbatore. From Coimbatore JN, you have several trains to Ernakulam Jn.

www.ksrtc.in (karnataka Government Buses) and apart from this you could catch Tamilnadu government buses also from Mysore to ooty.
