Sweepstakes, yes please enter to win don't mind the small print at the end...
I am narrowing down my trip in October post checking out Rishikesh area. I will be returning to Delhi around the 19th and have until the 27th to return to the US. Jaipur is definitely on the list of desired places to see. Hearing Agra is worth a day. How to combine both of these with Virindivan as well? Looking to chant along with Krishna devotees at least a little while I'm there. This seems a bit more sane than my original desire to get to Leh/Ladakh then down to Jaipur in this time frame. (seeing an oracle and the land was the draw for me there) Since I'm traveling by myself, will it make more sense for me to pay a driver to take me from Delhi or travel by train? I would love to stay within a 65 US dollar budget including accommodations if possible. Willing to pay more per day to include driver/guide (are they different?) that may get me into places I couldn't normally. (so $100/day total with driver/guide) What else is interesting in that general area to see? (besides the Taj, which I would see if I'm in Agra anyway) Are there places in Delhi worth checking out, or will leaving the large city enhance my adventure while experiencing greater peace and happiness elsewhere? ![]() I am interested in receiving massage and energy work while traveling...any suggestions in these areas would be helpful and maybe this should get moved to a different thread. Namaste, wmoon *please note you must be under ten to enter into sweepstakes or your prize may be void.* thanks for playing anyway Last edited by wmoon : Jun 17th, 2008 at 08:19. |

If you're going from Agra to Vrindavan/Mathura, how about stopping at Bharatpur? Even if you aren't into birding, you'll like walking or riding a bike or riksha through the preserve, breathing sweet air without having to watch for cars and scooters.
The town doesn't look like much, and you can catch a bus to Vrindavan without going back to the train station. |

thanks wonderwomanusa,
great name by the way! I have heard of bombings in Jaipur and that it may not be a safe place to be and now am going back to contemplating visiting Leh from the 19th to the 23rd then coming back to Delhi and going south to agra and surrounding areas until I fly out of Delhi on the 27th. Right now, I got no idea and am going on what feels right in the moment and trying to stay informed as best as I can. ![]() (give me a couple days and I'll likely have a new plan of action based on receiving more info) How the heck does anyone ever figure it all out the first time, anyhow??? ![]() |

apparently I'm getting my info slowly
Well,
it seems like the bombing in Jaipur happened some time ago and it's not news to any of you. Still would like to go, though the person facilitating our tour in rishikesh didn't recommend it as a safe place to be. she thought it might be better for me to head north into leh while on my own and then drop into agra area right before flying home and skipping jaipur. I'm not sure being in jaipur will be any less safe than anywhere else in the world, to be honest. ![]() |
