Surfing Locations in India?

Hello all,

Gustakhi maaf.. if this is not the right sub-forum to post this question..

I am located in Mumbai, and would like to try surfing. As far as i know there are hardly any beaches around to try. Please suggest some good locations where i could try this. Is the Andamans one of them?

I grew up in Mumbai and stayed very close to the Juhu beach. Back in the 1980s, I used to see a lot Americans surfing there. These guys were helicopter pilots working for ONGC.

I have hardly seen such large waves here!!

Yes .... after a good monsoon storm their are decent waves at Juhu. I've seen a couple of surfers here.

Short, wide board would be ideal ... breaks are not very long, so this is not the place for a Malibu long board!

Just don't swallow the water!

May have to trek it down to Sri Lanka for decent waves.
