Shimla or Nainital for week in August?

Wow - thanks all for the responses! I didn't know there had been so many or I would have been back sooner to check it out. I'm glad to see so many people that think well of both places, seems like in general one couldn't go wrong.

I'm starting to get the impression though that the weather in August in either place will more than likely be rainy and not really allow us a chance to get the most of either place.

Unfortunatley the timing of our trip is locked in, so we may just have to make the best of it. We're planning to go down to Udaipur later in the trip anyway - factoring in weather, would anyone think we might do better to plan a few days at Mt. Abu instead of either one of these? I hear great things about the Jain temples, but am not sure to what extent its a beautiful natural area, good for day hikes, etc.

Sorry to be all over the place, but it's hard planning a first trip! Thanks all for the advice so far.

MOUNT ABU??!! In comparison to SHIMLA or NAINITAL (where are the "spluttering" and "incredulous" icons?) ??!!
You can take that as a NO.

Either place will be much better than Abu despite the rain, take your pick.
