Shimla-Manali in June,2012 - Need itinerary advice

Hi All,

I'm new to the forum but have already gathered great info from this forum. After scratching my head for few days, I've come up with the following itinerary for my Shimla-Manali trip I'm planning this June from Delhi. I need feedback/advice/suggestions from all fellow members about it as I've never been to this region. I'll be travelling with my wife.Please help


Day 0 (14.06.2011) : Leave Delhi by HWH-KLK Mail

Day 1 (15.06.2011) : Reach Shimla in the morning

Day : Visit Jhakoo temple and Vice regal lodge (IIAS)

Evening : Mall and Ridge road (shops, Kali bari, christ church, town hall, scandal point, etc.)

Day 2 (16.06.2012) : Shimla

By HPTDC tour/ Personal Cab

Kufri : Mahasu peak,

Chail : Maharaja Patiala Palace, Highest cricket ground, Kali tibba (highest peak)

( possible in a day comfortably ??)

Day 3 (17.06.2012) : Fagu, Theog , Narkanda

Day 4 (18.06.2012) : Reach Manali by HPTDC Bus

( how much time it takes ?)


Day 5 (19.06.2012) : Visit Hidimba and Vashisht temple, Tibetian monastery, Club house

Day 6 (20.06.2012) : Visit Kullu and Naggar.

Day 7 (21.06.2012) : Solang valley and Rohtang pass (on the way visit Nehru Kund, Kothi, Rahla Fall, Marhi, Gulaba)

( possible in a day ? )

Day 8 (22.06.2012) : Back to Delhi by HPTDC VOLVO bus.

This itinerary is quite comfirtable. Shimla to Manali by bus take about 8 hours and all the way is hilly.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I read in few posts that Naggar is a nice place and many are suggesting one night stay at Naggar Castle. Any feedback on this? I can stretch my trip by a day or if required can skip Narkanda or Chail section of Shimla. How's Narkanda?
and Chail ?

Someone please suggest
Is it possible to go to Naggar via Manikaran in a day? I mean,leave Manali in the morning,reach Naggar by evening after seeing Manikaran on the way?

Which is preferable among Chail or Narkanda for a day trip from Shimla?

Its quite possible to do Manikaran and then to Naggar, which is a nice place
