Seeking Advice Amritsar/Dharamsala

Hello,

I am planning to go on a trip to India in July, and was hoping you all could help me with a few details:

1. Are there any sites worth visiting on the way from Amritsar to Dharamsala?

2. I'm planning on hiring a driver and renting a Jeep. Would you recommend doing so in Amritsar, rather than reaching Dharamsala by train and renting the Jeep there?

3. Could you recommend a specific driver or a company from which to hire one?

Thanks in advance,
Eyal

I have added 'Amritsar/Dharmsala' to your title to make it easier for people to respond.

Hey mike mike,

Hakol tov, ma nishma?

I will be landing in Amritsar and not in Delhi. I'll be in Delhi after Manali and will fly back from there.

I'll be in India for three weeks. I'll be glad to hear any and all suggestions you might have!

Thanks,
Eyal

Well, the plan is to land in Amritsar, and from there to Dharamsala. However, I don't know whether to take a train from Amritsar to Dharamsala or to rent a jeep there and go that way. Is there anything on the way from Amritsar to Dharamsala worth checking out? We'll be continuing to Manali after Dharamsala, and then to Delhi. And I'll be going with my family.

And advice is what I'm looking for

Thanks again,
Eyal

Shalom akhi ,
If u arrive in Amritsar there r few thing to see nearby u can go to the border called wagah border thats ind/pak border mindblowing they have a great way of march n very good style of doing opening n closing of the border gates u will love it !
Than from amritsar u can go to Dharamshala straight nothing to see on the way it's only landscape n mountains u can see n feel !
From Dharamshala to Manali all valley n there u can go to kasol a small parbati valley beautiful place to go (manikaran sikh temple)very beautiful valley ,near manali there is a place called naggar (Roerich art gallery)beautiful paintings n than u can go to rohtang pass up from manali around 50 km .where u find ice skieng n paragliding etc.
I will be obliged to help u out in any manner .
Thanks (Laila tov)
Yalla bye

Anyone know what it would cost to do the trip by Jeep from Amritsar to Dharamsala? Also, how long does it take? Looks like I may do this in October. Thankx
