sainj valley itinerary

Hi

I want itinerary advice on Sainj valley. We'll be four families travelling with kids in the age group 11-15. Any comments on places to stay will be more than welcome. Likely dates of trip: end of may.

Thanks in advance

Hi .....

Hi,
Lucky you might not get too lucky here .... The sainj valley area is a protected area under the GReat Himalayan Nation Park ... My thoughts 1500/- is too little .... get your own equipment (Tents, Sleeping Bags, Stoves) and manage ... however be sure to be friendly ... I would recommend going up to Gushaini in Tirthan making that a base and then exploring from there ..... still 1500/- not passable ... for the best Itinerary advice visit .... greathimalayannationalpark.com or ghnp.com .....

cheers

how much is enough

Hi Dhananjay

Thanks for your reply. But I would insist on asking some places where we can lodge ourselves. Eating places? Contact persons ?
And what budget you feel would be appropriate per family per day?

Use this link: http://www.greathimalayannationalpar.../GHNP_home.htm

I recommend also Raju's cottage in Gushaini and say a big hello from me . That's the best place in the Tirthan Valley...

sainj valley

Hi Dhananjay and Andreas

Thanks for your help. I've fixed up the programme with one NGO called "SAHARA".

Day 1 Sairopa
day2 Rolla
day3 Rolla
day4 Rolla to sleet
day5 Sleet to sairopa.

Accomodation in 4 men tents. Food, sleeping bags, porter, guide provided. 500 Rs per day per person. your opinions please. If I'm missing out on anyplace or thing please point out. Can you get me Raju's phone number?
We can slash a day from Rolla and may be stay at Gushaini. How much would be a room for family? Any wild guess will do.
And Andreas, I'll say your hello to Raju in case we meet him.

thanks once again.

Gushaini

Hi lucky,

did you read the part of the OUTLOOK TRAVELLER Cover Story "20 Places You've Never Been"? http://www.outlooktraveller.com/asps...gid=342&page=1

Quote:
Goshaini
This is where you want to be if you want to sit around and read, go for occasional walks, and be fed wonderful food all day. For the more vigorous-minded, a 16 km long walk along the Tirthan River brings you to the Great Himalayan National Park; from there the endless possibilities of moderate to difficult hiking. Raju and Lata run a guest house that is clean, comfortable, and relatively inexpensive (room and board: Rs 1,000 a day/couple). Fresh trout every day if you want it. It’s popular, so book ahead (01903-76808). Getting there: At Aut, just short of Kullu, turn off and ask your way to Goshaini. Driving is most convenient, although local transport also exists.
There are prices and phone number of Raju's cottage. I've a further number. Try 01903-225008 if the other one is no working!

I'll also visit Lata and Raju in August again

Have a nice time in the Tirthan Valley!
Andreas

Raju's

Hi! Andreas

Thanks yet again.
I looked up the link.
Now I'll be left with "19 places I've never been".

Philosophising ; Do we really go to all the places we visit?
