Hi All!!
Great to see so many knowledgeable people on this community!! I'm an Indian from Mumbai/Bombay now studying in the city that does remind me of India at times i.e. New York city! Glad to see a lot of my fav towns are popular here esp Rhishikesh. Has someone ventured to Kedarnath & Badrinath in the Himalayas? Some of the best scenery I've seen! Anyway I'm planning a Golden Triangle + Amritsar trip and not sure how to piece it together. And which places to visit in Rajasthan. Am thinking Delhi-Agra-Fatehpur Sikri-Jaipur-Pushkar-Udaipur-Jaisalmer-Jodhpur-Amritsar-Wagah border Also, is it achievable in 10 days? I've been to Delhi, so planning only 2 days there to meet family. Also, flying whenever possible(get free tickets courtesy my mum who works in the airlines!!), where would you suggest, into Delhi out of Amritsar? Will be traveling in the 2nd week of Jan. Looking forward to your inputs!! |

I think you're packing too much into 10 days there, it's just not possible.
You could certainly manage (by train): Delhi (2) - Amritsar (1) - overnight train (1) to Agra (2)- taxi to Jaipur via Fatehpur Sikri(2) - Pushkar(2) - Delhi. Number of nights is shown in brackets. That's 10 nights (rather than days) but you could play around with it. If you really want to see Udaipur and/or Jaisalmer you'll probably have to drop something. Amritsar can be done in a day from Delhi by Shatabdi express which would save you some time too. I think there's a thread that covers that somewhere...here it is: Train Udaipur to Amritsar Despite the name it covers the Jaipur route, honest! Hope that helps. |

There is also another option .. however you have check out the train availability..
You can start from Mumbai and take a train to Udaipur Or somewhere in Rajasthan...from there keep moving towards Delhi and complete the triangle.. |

Off the top of my head there's no direct train Mumbai - Udaipur. But please check, I might be wrong. You can fly this route with Indian Air or Jet Airways though.
There's also (AFAIK) no train Udaipur - Jodhpur so that would have to be a taxi. That said, something like: Mumbai (2) - Udaipur (2) - Jodhpur (1) - Jaipur (2) - Agra (1)- Delhi (2) could be just about doable. |

Hi I will be flying Mumbai-Delhi, and want to end in amritsar as a friend will be leaving earlier.
Ok so 10 days for Golden Triangle(Delhi-Agra-Rajasthan) and I can stay back for longer to head to Amritsar-Wagah. |

Every time I tried that in the past, I had to change at Ahmedabad, and always ended up having to sleep at the station to catch an early train. I hope that has changed now...

Hey all, went through the forums and got some routes, which one do you'll think is the most optimal, I'm in preference of the one that are Bom-Del-onward as from Delhi through some family might get a free car to travel. So keep in mind, budget no constraint as I might stay with some contacts in most places, get free transport etc. Or would you'll suggest an alt itinerary? Also want it ending in Amritsar/Wagah as my friend doesn't want to visit it, so she'll head back from the point before and i'll go onward. how long do u think is good in each place??? Can't wait till my LP India arrives!!
Options are: Bombay-Delhi-Agra-Fatehpur Sikri-Jaipur-Pushkar-Udaipur-Jaisalmer-Jodhpur-amritsar Bombay-Delhi-Agra-Fatehpur Sikri-Bikaner-Jaisalmer-Jodhpur-Udaipur-Pushkar-Jaipur-Amritsar Bombay-Delhi-Jaisalmer-Jodhpur-Udaipur-Pushkar-Jaipur-Agra-Fathepur Sikri-Amritsar Bombay-Udaipur-Jodhpur-Jaisalmer-Jaipur-Fatehpur Sikri-Agra-Delhi-Amritsar |

You should sit down for several hours with a guide book and train timetable. |
