Ranthambhore to Jaipur
We will be leaving Ranthambhore at midday and need to travel to Jaipur which I understand is about 3-4 hours drive away. We have been quoted 2800+taxes and 2600 for an AC Ambassador, which I have a feeling is too much. Does anyone know what it should roughly cost?
Also, can anyone can recommend any interesting stops on route? Thanks Louise |

Sawai Madhopur is 11kms from the gates of Ranthambhore NP, most of the hotels are along this road.
Train 2955 departs Sawai Madhopur daily at 10:45 and gets to Jaipur at 12:55 2-tier air con = Rs 366 3-tier air con = Rs 276 Train 2465 departs Sawai Madhopur daily at 15:05 and gets to Jaipur at 17:20 Air Con Chair Class = Rs 224 Think of the hotel upgrade you could have with the money saved, I'm sure a taxi could be better used elsewhere. You should be able to make the first train, we were back from the morning safaris before 9 (if I remember right), please check with your hotel, and the drive to Sawai Madhopur station is simple and quick. If you have a full day, do the morning safari, then have breakfast, freshen up, and go into the town of Sawai Madhopur for a walk around, it's an interesting place and I had no hassle at all in the town, you might want to buy a jumper from the town, those safari's are bloody chilly, especially the morning safaris.

Great - thanks Stephen. Yes, that's a better idea to catch a train as we've already gone over our budget for this trip.
Note to self about jumper! |

watl1, was it you who asked about a train from Ranthambhore to Jodhpur?
I noticed a post, but I was on holiday and didn't have time to reply, when I got back, I couldn't find the post. Quote:
