Rajisthan in ten days - give me your wisdom people!
My partner and I are travelling through India in late Dec early January and need help with the Rajisthan part of our trip. We're on a mid-range budget and only have ten days to split between the following (all advice appreciated!):
Day 1 - Delhi - Udaipur (night plane 3 hours) Day 2 - Udaipur Day 3 - Udaipur Day 4 - Udaipur - Jodhpur (night bus 8 hours) Day 5 - Jodhpur Day 6 - Jodhpur - Jaisalmer (night train 6 hours) Day 7 - Jaisalmer Day 8 - Jaisalmer Day 9 - Jaisalmer Day 10 - need to get back to Delhi?? And if you could be bothered with these questions: What do you think about the amount of time spent in each city - too long or too short? Is Jaisalmer worth going the extra distance (have heard great things though)? We originally included Jaipur but swapped to Jaisalmer after hearing more favourable descriptions - any thoughts? And finally - how do we get back from Jaisalmer to Delhi. Is the airport still closed? If so - is train the best way back? This site is a life (and trip) saver! Many thanks for reading and any help given. Cheers Whippet. |

There's a night train between Jaisalmer and Delhi so you could take that on the way back - as far as I'm aware there aren't any flights operating but the train's quite pleasant anyway!
You could squeeze in a visit to Jaipur in between Udaipur and Jodhpur if you were willing to take a day off one of the other destinations - there's another good night train between them and it would mean you could skip a bus ride. |

Whippet,
U have chosen places that are far apart...and i thought with this itenary...u could get tired. If i had 10 days in Rajasthan...this is what i would do. Udaipur - Kumbhalgarh - Mt. Abt - Chittaurgarh - Ranakpur temples - Jaisamand Lake - Nathdwara - Eklingi... These places are all close by...and u will not lose time travelling. |
