Rajasthan/Goa with four month old

Hi - hoping I can get some advice from those in the know. My partner and I are planning on flying into Mumbai in a few weeks. Would like to visit Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Agra and then spend the last few days relaxing further south. Unfortunately we only have about 4 weeks in total. We are expecting to take at least one internal flight.
I have read advice on this forum suggesting that if you haven't been to India before, it would not be a great idea to take a child. This would probably mean leaving the little fella behind or waiting eighteen years or so! We have travelled a lot 'pre-child' so hope that will help us out.
Any advice helping us sort out an itinerary that might take in the above places, and on travelling with our bub would be greatly appreciated!

There are plenty of people going there with young babies; if moving around a lot with them is a good idea is another thing. If it's a good idea on a first trip, I simply don't know. India can be quite a blast on many people; others seem to feel right at home from the start. I think I'd look into one or two places where you can rent an apartment with a kitchen to settle down and just take it easy.
