Please help with Itinerary

My husband & I are flying into Mumbai for 1 week, we are in our 50's and very confused with the railway information, the more we read the more confused we get, must be our age.

We looked at pictures of the Konkan rail journey from Mumbai to Goa this looked lovely and thought this would be lovely way to see a very small part of the country, but from reading other posts most people say its a night train? To be honest what we would love to do is travel down to Goa but get on and off at different towns, without pre booking, but now realise this is not possible with the india rail service. Can we book small legs of the journey? we like to be flexible as possible, also to see as much as we can in the short time we have, and what towns? We would like to go to a National Park/Safari.Would we be better to fly one way then get train back?Seeing as we only have 7 days. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou Alison

Thumbs up

hi,

When are you planning to visit India. Train bookings are needed to be done 2 months in advance.

distancs between Bombay and Goa is max. 600 kilometers. if you are interested in little bit side seeing of the route, i will advice you travel by road. it will take you max. 1 day to reach goa.

Also there is train early morning around 5 am from Bombay. but you will need to do booking well in advance.
