Welcome to IM Satish !
Thought of sharing few info which I know. 1) Two wheelers are not allowed inside the Nagarhole NP 2) You are talking about approximately 700 kms one way [Bangalore- Mysore- Nagarhole-Munnar]. 3) Based on My driving experiences[By Car] I could share the following info on the road conditions : Bangalore- Mysore --> 139 kms [ Excellent road SH-17] Mysore - Nagarhole --> 90- 100 kms [ Excellent Road all through If you take HD Kote route Or Hunsur Route] Nagarhole- Mananthavady ---> Around 50 kms [ Road is Picturesque until Mananthavady and road is Good Except the initial 3 kms from Kutta] Mananthavady - Kozhikode ---> Excellent road Via Kalpetta and the Thamaraserry ghat road with scenic views ! Hope this helps to Evaluate Bike as an option. Please post If you have any queries. The Same Trip could be done comfortably by Car (For Mysore- Nagarhole Circuit ) and followed by Bus/ Train to Munnar. |

Thanks you very much for the
,Actually we are planning drive only 200-250 kms for a day approximately and see the around places....take rest for the day and move on until we reach munnar....while coming we will send bike back through train..even we can send our bike back from nearest railway station from nagarhole ! The main thing is we dont know car driving ... By seeing the reply from you i am thinking like going by bus..(can i get buses from Blr to nagarhole)..how much feasible its roaming around nagarhole..(even ooty, silent valley comes in our trip is this places have good commutation from nagarhole) can we get bikes rental in munnar to roam around there...or frequent buses.. we are planning for kayaking, rafting(bhoothanakett u dam),trekking is that a good time to go there... i think i have told my whole plan.. correct me if anything is there... If possible suggest some best places on the way and best outfits to wear in august.. ![]() Last edited by mathenagsatish : Jul 11th, 2008 at 21:17. Reason: forgot mention some thing.. |

Satish,
If you are experienced in Long Drives in Bikes, it is not a problem except for Nagarhole NP [ Where Officially Two-wheelers are banned] and Mysore is the nearest Railhead for Nagarhole NP ! You could see the detailed discussions on Nagarhole Bus timings and the route to take from Bangalore in this thread. Trip to Nagarhole/Kabini- Advice Needed Also, there is one Night bus From Bangalore which reaches kutta in the Morning .[Kutta is around 10 kms from Nagarhole NP forest dept gate] and you could get a shared Jeep Or Hire a Jeep onto Nagarhole NP. From Nagarhole, you could reach Kutta back and from there More Private buses and quite a few Government buses [Both Kerala and KArnataka Government ] ply to Virajpet [ Enroute Kannur in Rugged roads] Or Mananthavady / Kalpetta [ Enroute Kozhikode in excellent roads] and as you are planning to head to south kerala , Reaching Kozhikode is the better option. From Kozhikode, you could board a train[ Which is comfortable and frequency is mmore] to Ernakulam Jn and from Ernakulam / Cochin you could catch a bus to reach Munnar. And for Roaming around Nagarhole, this link will provide you detailed information Nagerhole in May And for other info you are looking for, I may not be the right person and for sure our other experienced IMers will pitch in !. Hope this helps. Happy Travelling |
