Planned a trip to Bangalore-Mysore-Ooty-Kodaikanal-Madurai....please guide

Hi
I have planned a trip to Bangalore-Mysore-Ooty-Kodai - Madurai in month of November.

Can anyone please guide me on the inter city transfers, 3 star hotels (not too expensive), individual car cost etc?

I have planned 1 night in bangalore, 1 night in mysore, 2 nights in ooty, 3 nights in kodai. From there i will to mdaurai.

Any changes suggested?

Thanks.

Regards,
JP

@JP,

If Possible, Skip Bangalore and have 2 nights in Mysore and ooty looks fine and Kodaikanal you may have 2 nights instead of 3 and Madurai 2 Or at the max 3 Nights!

Bangalore -Mysore [ There are Ample A/C Volvo buses which will cover the 129 kms in 2 1/2 hours and also there are few trains which will cover the distance in 3 Hours] --> No Car Required !

Mysore- Ooty [ Hire a Taxi and you may explore Nanjangud Temple -> Very famous and Big and it's just 29 kms in Mysore-ooty Highway itself] [ A Slight detour of 1 km to Temple from the highway] followed by Wildlife safari in Bandipur [ Timings 6 - 9 am and 3 - 6 pm] and then you may proceed to Ooty !
If you are not interested in the in-between places which i specified , Car is not required and you can board any of the many buses from Mysore to ooty and it will take 5 Hours [ Scenic Drive for around 80 kms]

From Ooty, Book "Toy Train" well in advance in "First Class " [ For Excellent Views] and get down at Mettupalaiyam Jn[ plains] from where you can get "N" number of buses to Coimbatore [ 1 Hour Travel ]

From Coimbatore, If you want comfort, Hire a car and you may explore "palani Temple"[ Very famous in South India] followed by 'Ghat Road" to kodaikanal !
The same can be done with Buses too as Bus frequency is too good between Coimbatore to Palani. In PAlani Bus stand, enquire for "Kodaikanal " bound bus.. If it's crowded or you like comfort, then from palani you may hire a car to Kodaikanal .

Kodaikanal to Madurai, No need of taxi as there are many many buses to Dindugal / Madurai !

Accomodation:-

1) In Mysore, "Hotel Mayura Hoysala , KSTDC Lodge, you may try 1000 Rs /Night . Nice lodge just very near to Mysore Jn and walkable to URS road [ MG road of Mysore]

2) In Ooty, "Hotel Mayura Fernhill KSTDC Lodge" is worth the money with Super-scenery around [ Search for my Id in this forum and I did a more detailed write-up about this Lodge]

3) In Kodaikanal, "Hotel TTDC - Cottage or Suite room " is worth a try and this is also Nice !

And None of the above are 3 Star by the way but all are in 1000 Rs to 1400 Rs Range/ Night but safe / Secure in nice locations and government owned !

In each of the locations, you may hire Cab for Local sight seeing which will be of comfort !
