Places I want to See - what bestest route

In Mid March landing in Delhi then Jailsalmer / Jodphur / Udaipur / Mumbai / Ellora / Calcutta/ Darjeeling / Varanasi / Agra maybe Jaipur then Delhi. Have heaps of time and would like some help with best route for these places and even if there are other better places should see. Want to take my time and not have too many places but def. want to do the train Mumbai to Calcutta.plus Darjeeling.

working on Ellora direction - should I stop off on way down to Mumbai or Mumbai to Calcutta?
thanx

I strongly suggest you to avoid air travel, and private travel (like
a taxi), and take up great Indian Railways. Hence, the best way
to figure your route out is to first get railways map, and decide
the places you want to visit.
You haven't mentioned how long you plan to stay around!

It'll be getting warm in mid-March so you will want to put visits to lots of hill stations/mountains in that trip.

Working off the map (one that shows rail lines) is a good idea!

thanks...heat wow thought that... we had it at 50o in Acqaba and did we sweat though am a bit used to some.
Would you travel from Delhi to Jailsalmer via Bikaner which means a bus ride from Bikaner or train thru. Jaipur meaning doubling up on Jodphur on way to Udaipur.
Is Pushkar worth a stop at or would heat put a stop to that.
Have a partner who after MANY countries quotes the saying another Bloody Castle, Cathedral and City so I need to accommodate him with some "bush".
cheers

Jodhpur is a nice little town and I'd go through it twice with no problem. I try to avoid bus travel in India whenever possible -- it scares the h#ll out of me.

Won't be 50C in March or April ... but it'll be getting warm and humid... though Rajesthan should be arid.
