One week from Bangalore

Hi,

I've brought this topic up before, in another thread, but thought I would start one here. I'll be in Bangalore for a six weeks from July to August, and will spend the last week traveling. I am hoping for some sample itineraries.

I would be able to start travel on a Friday night or Saturday morning from Bangalore, and my flight leaves Bangalore the Saturday after, at ~11pm. Hence, I'd like to be back in Bangalore sometime on Friday.

Since I'll be in Bangalore for a few weeks, I'll likely take weekend trips to Mysore, Hampi, and possibly Pondicherry. I was originally going to do Nagarhole or Bandipur, but I am going to stop by Singapore for a few days on my return flight, so I'll visit the zoo there.

Otherwise, I am open to suggestions of where to go. Kerala and Kanyakumari sounded great, but I would like to take trains/buses the entire time (no flying), and I'm concerned that if I go all the way down to Kanyakumuri, it would be a bit wasteful of time. So, are there some good routes for a week that would start/stop at Bangalore and not be too much time spent in a bus/train? Perhaps do a loop around the northern Kerala and back through Mangalore? Are there good places to see there?

Edit: Or would it be worth it to do Cochin/Allepey down to Varkala and then to Trivandrum and take the train back up?

You can cover everything in karnataka from an overnight trip from bangalore. The extra week if you have, you can spend in kerala.
You can get overnight KSRTC buses to every place you wanna go, starting from bijapur, hampi, Pondicherry, coorg, gokarna etc. The bookings can be done once you are here, so dont worry about that.
