One month in India - Mumbai to Delhi - leave in one week! Help!!!

Hi there!

We've been travelling South America for the past six months and have dropped back into the UK for a couple of weeks, our guide book for India arrived yesterday and we're leaving a week Monday for Mumbai!

Lots of reading to do, but thought some handy person might be able to give some recommended places to stop at on a rough route from Mumbai to Delhi.

We're a newly wed couple, travelling on a budget of about $27 a day per person. We don't mind roughing it, any time spent in big cities will be minimal, we want to get rural, bit of hiking, see some famous spots and aren't bothered about Goa & the beach.

Not trying to be lazy, I'll update this thread with our running thoughts, but a head start from the experts here would be fantastic!! )

Ell you are being lazy there is so much information on this portal much more practical than any guide book.

For a start you can look at visiting Agra, Khajurao, Ellora on the trip towards Mumbai.

Cheers, our worry is mainly about exactly how much we can fit in. The boards are great; our plan is to put up a potential itinerary in the next couple of days on here, and then watch as everybody says 'thata's far too much, you're better off sticking to only a few places'.

We'll check out those suggestions and anything else that pops up.
