Per favore,

When you get here, be ready to leave all the rush-rush of the West behind. The best thing about India is its people. You could stay here for 100 years and still not see all that India has. Reposo!!! You probably have a hectic job in Italy. Do you really want to go back to work exhausted?

Meet some people on this board. Have fun. Be crazy. Let go.

Ciao,

Sierra

Sorry if I was not clear, Maltabella...just to say that you may not want to travel so much in India. If you are from the West, even one place in India is a lot to take in.

I'd just book in 2A, it's only Rs308 (SL costs Rs121).

Looking at the waitlists for the trains going up till 4th November, I think the waitlist for SL will come down, but I wonder if it would come down enough to get confirmed berths, there's no guarentees.

The Indian Railway website displays waitlists in the following way.

WL39/WL30 means....

You join the waitlist at position 39, but there have already been 9 cancellations, so your actual position is 30.

Be careful when you ask about waitlists, you mentioned WL39/WL40, I'm guessing you mean that one of the tickets you can get is WL39 and the other one is WL40, can you see where people can get confused.

.
Does maltabella need confirmed berths? It is only a 3 hour trip, and I remember that I was told to get on a train for a day journey with a waitlist ticket, by both stationmaster and ticket-collector.

Hi Atala,
I thought it was possible too. Last year during my day trips in SL I saw many many poeple standing without a seat and I wonder they could have reserved the ticket! Maybe someone may give us an answer....

Is SL standing for Sri Lanka? That's different, there you need reservation only on Intercity-trains, where no standing is possible (as far as I know).
