Northeast to Southwest

Hello, all,

I'm planning on visiting Varanasi and Bodhgaya for a week in March, then spending a week in Kerala.

So here's the question:

How would you spend 2-5 days traveling from India's northeast all the way to Cochin. I have no illusions about seeing very much, but I would like to take a train for at least part of the journey.

So there's plenty of flexibility for creative minds......

I would suggest the Lunknow - Chennai express for a part of the trip.

Can you tell me why you favor that route?

I would recommend journey by air from Varanasi / Lucknow to Kerala and then travel short distances by train. That will save 2-3 days journey time otherwise it will boring and not so soothing for travelling continously for 2 days in train.
