Northeast or Southcentral!?!?!
Hi everyone,
I was originally slated to work for three weeks in Mumbai after which I had a three week travelling schedule, heading down the west coast and up the east coast and eventually leaving out of Chennai. But today I found out that Ill be working in Dhaka, Bangladesh. I have done no research on the area between Dhaka and Chennai, because I expected to be leaving from Mumbai. Do you suggest I catch a flight to Mumbai and head out on my originally slated route (Goa, Cochin, Tanjore, Madurai, Pondicherry, Chennai) or just do overland from Dhaka to Chennai, exploring whatevers to be found inbetween? If you think the Dhaka-->Chennai route is the way to go, where should I stop? Whats worth seeing? I have 3 weeks. Thanks very much everyone. I leave in 4 days so it's really getting down the the wire. -Evan

Your post was confusing to me, but, I believe have finally understood. Initially, you were supposed to work for 3 weeks in Mumbai and then have a 3 week travel schedule. For th travel you were planning on doing the south west coast and then up to Chennai from where you were flying out of India.
Your work has now changed from Mumbai to Dhaka and you still have the 3 week travel schedule after that. YOu are wondering if you should fly from Dhaka to Mumbai after your work and do the travel as originally planned with flying out of Chennai. Obvious question is what are your interests? Historic places, ruins, temples, beaches and have you been to India before? What about the Rajasthan-Agra-Varanasi area? If you are really keen on doing the original plan, I would not see any problem in flying Dhaka to Mumbai as planned or may I suggest - fly Dhaka to Goa and do the original plan. It depends really. Your original plan would be the more well-trodden path (nothing wrong with it); whereas West Bengal-Orissa-Andhra Pradesh are supposed to be marvelous and decidedly off the beaten track.
So if you like to go it alone (in terms of fellow tourists at least), the latter might suit you. On a first (is it?) 3-week trip it could also be a little harder going because of the same reasons. I can't advise you on those areas as I haven't been there ![]() But if you had the other route all worked out, sure, why not fly to Mumbai and stick to that.
