Wink North West in September

I plan to travel in September to the following places:

Delhi (this is where I fly into)
Agra+Fatehpur Sikri
Bundi
Jaipur
Chandigarh
Shimla
Manali + Kullu
Delhi (to fly home)

I have never been to India so I need as much advice as possible about these areas. As in - What should I see in each place... how long should I spend in each place (I'm going for about 3 weeks)... and if anyone knows the timetables for trains between these places...

Thank you in advance

It seems quite OK to me and september should be nice. No school holidays, so lesser crowds. How long you want to spend at each place, well I guess all of us have different notions. I have seen people saying they will go to Agra in the morning and come back in the night!

Sounds quite OK and well balanced to me. Do you have flexibility to change your schedule if you like a place more or is everything pre-booked?

I will leave the must see places for someone else to answer but for trains, you can check out the official Indian Railways website:

www.indianrail.gov.in/

The Indian trains are generally full and one has to book in advance to have a seat but you can think of taking good buses as the places are not that far away from each other.

You have trains between the following:

New Delhi and Agra
Agra and Kota(Bundi is 36 kms. from Kota by road)
Kota and Jaipur
Jaipur and Chandigarh(via Delhi)
Chandigarh and Shimla(with a change of trains at Kalka)
From Shimla to Manali and Kullu to Delhi you have to travel by road. For the Kullu-Delhi journey you may travel by road upto Kiratpur/Chandigarh and then take a train to Delhi, if you do not fancy long road journeys.

MUST SEE places :

Delhi - Old monuments and tombs, Connought Place, Bengali Market, Spices market, Bahai Temple, Birla Temple, Jama Masjid and Chandni Chowk. There are too many to list them all individually here !

Agra - Fort, Sikandara, Etmad-ud-daulah, Dayal Bagh temple and Taj Mahal. A visit to Fatehpur Sikri is on too.

Bundi - Not aware.

Jaipur - Hawa Mahal, Amber Fort

Chandigarh - Rock Garden, Sukhna Lake, Rose Garden(seasonal), Punjab University Campus, Sector 17 shopping comlex.

Shimla - anything !

Manali - Old Manali, Club House, Hadimbaa Temple, river front, Vashisht baths. Visits to Jagatsukh, Naggar, Rohtang Pass(seasonal) and Manikarn.

Kullu - Dussehra grounds, Main Bazaar, Bijli Mahadev Temple, Bhuttico shawl factory. Visits to Katrain, Raison and Bhuntar.
