hi I have a ticket flying into delhi and and out of mumbai. I arrive dec 5 and i will leave on April 5. I want to go to Agara, see the Taj and head over to Varanasi...I also want to get down to the south. SO what i am wondering is i terms of getting the best weather for my trip.....should I go directly south and spend Dec-Jan there then Feb-March in the north or the other way around...or should i .............................. ..???? I have read the weather things but i still dont know.....any help would be great !

Though you'll be landing at Delhi and exiting from Mumbai, I suggest you cover the South first and then move North.

The South will be pretty comfortable in Dec-Jan and the North likewise in Feb-Mar.

No, not terrible, but North India is at its coldest in December and January. Then again, if you're planning on visiting the north Indian hills, they are better visited in March than in Dec./Jan.

However, you certainly can do the North first and then the South.

Well, if you see the north first then be prepared to get all your woollens and then the cold winter fog and mist in the north will sort of spoil your days there and if you come to the south then the rains may be a bit of a dampener. Though it will not be raining in all places and not much either but sometimes you may find the showers in January and February in the southern parts of India.

I think you should do the south first and then follow it up with the middle of the country before you end your trip in the north and leave from Mumbai at the end of your journey. However if you can change the arrival and departure city of your travel then please try to do so and interchange it so you have a nice start in Mumbai and end it with a bye-bye from Delhi!!! Have a safe and pleasant journey all the way and take care and enjoy your travels in India!!!

Cheers,
Aadil.
