North India versus South India ... Which is Best?

Its been a long while since I spent time in the north of India, but I am curious to know if people feel whether the north or south has more to offer and why?

In my opinion these are the strengths of both areas:

The North
Better architecure (except for temples)
The Himalayas
Rajasthan
The Ganges and the amazing towns along its course

The South
Better culture (eg music, dance, theatre, martial arts )
The Beaches of Goa & Kerala
Better climate
More relaxed and easy going

What do people think?

The Himalayas, always for me. But then this is personal preference, I am sure people would be equally fond of sea (I am too but after the Himalayas).

The South for us:

Better Culture
Better Temples
Better Nature
Nicer People
Better Food

Pepsi vs Coke?

'Best' is not a good way to compare these totally different areas.

It's a totally subjective call. A newbie could be led to one or the other by who just happens to make a stronger case. Personally I think of the North and South as two very different regions. Arguably more different that say, France vs Spain.

What's your preference & why - might be more apropos.

Hmmmmm - Well I like friendly people, fresh Coffee, gournmet Masala Dosa, splashes of Mughal & British architecture, mountains, jungles & ocean preferably within a Hindi/Urdu speaking environment.

Both North & South offer most of these preferences in places - but neither contain them all at one time ........

Shakti, you're right and yes we are comparing Finland and Spain, and yes we should be PC on IM, but in this case I'm in favour of the south.

SOUTH BEST!

Both have there own advantages and disadvantages

You should visit both places at least once. It will be worth it.

Well, considering that only the *continent* of Africa is more diverse than India, arguing for best will definitely be a personal opinion. However, I am pretty sure India has lot of offer whatever your preferences are..Enjoy.
