North india Road trip - Sep 2009
Hi IndiaMikers,
I am new to Indiamike, but fell in love with it the moment I found it! Found some great posts here My brother and me are planning for a 10-day roadtrip this month-end. I got a car arranged from my bro's friend ( for almost free I should say) and taking round trip up north, starting from Gurgaon. Our plans goes as follows 1. Gurgaon ( Starting Pt.) 2. Agra * Taj Mahal * Agra Fort * Chinni Ka Rauza 3. Ramnagar * Jim Corbett National park 4. Nainital * Snow Peak View * Nanda Devi Temple * St.John Wilderness Church * Gurney JimCorbett House * Guano Hills * Tiffin Top 5. Haridwar (plus Rishikesh, if time permits) 6. Amritsar * Golden Temple * Jalianwala bagh * Wagah Border 7. Back to Gurgaon Would be very very nice if guys could help me out, in case I missed out some nice spots on the way or if some spot is not worth spending time . Any other tips or info are most welcome. Thanks!! |

Corbet core area will be opened after Nov 15. Only the Jirna gate in buffer area is open in sep.
I think you are great hurry in finishing up the spots. I would suggest to go through the posts in IM on various places you are intended to visit and plan accordingly. Do post your queries for further comments. |

Hi Brijwasi/Sriprakash, Thanks for the replies!
Me and my bro have planned for about 3.5 days for Corbett + Nainital together. We are basically interested in Photography and have long decided to give up a few spots, provided if others are worth a longer halt. Agra and Amritsar are one-dayers and Rishikesh/Haridwar have been kept optional. So, we were hoping it won't be much of a rush.. and yes, I too came to know that Dhikala/Bijrani are closed now. Have anyone travelled to Jhirna? How was your experience? are any safaris available in this region? Also, Would be grt if someone help with accomodation details. I checked with Hostelling International (HIhostels) there but its sounds quite expensive. How about the accomodation within the Park? are they affordable (by which I mean 500-800 Rs per head per day)? Since we have our own transport, its OK for us to stay outside the park.. but just wanted to experience how it feels to stay for the night inside the park! |
