Hello all!! At last made it to Inida

Its my 3rd day in Delhi and we are leaving tomorrow (2 peeps) for Varanasi! We have until Dec 11t to be in Mumbai to meet up with friends. We want to go up north to Hardiwar, Shimla and Amritsar and if the weather is not too chilly go up a bit further. If it is, we want to make our way down to Rajasthan from Amritsar.

Few questions if you please...Is a train possible from Varanasi to Hardiwar? If so, would you recommend anywhere to stop on the way?

As we have 6 weeks to reach Mumbai, can you suggest any other places that you may think would interest us?

We love to just relax, take in some historic sites (not too many mind you!), read, eat nice food and just soak up whatever comes our way....wan tto do a yoga course but want to wait mid Jan for the ashram in Kerala (Sivananda one). Any good cookery course available in teh above mentioned places?

Am open to any suggestions that you may have at all.

I have to say that this site is amazing but the funny thing is, I spent numerous hours researching etc and the the minute I arrived I practically forgot everything

In saying that, I have only been ripped off once by @ 50R's...So far so good
