North India Itinerary January 07- Comments?

This is the itinerary we are considering for our first trip to India. We are planning to hire a car with a driver to take us around. We are experienced travelers in our 40s and would like to see some of the main sites and some areas with fewer tourists. We would also prefer not to have too many hours in the car.

Delhi 3 nights
Mandawa 2 nights
Jodphur 2 nights
Ghanerao 2 nights
Udaipur 2 nights
Pushkar 2 nights
Jaipur 2 nights
Samode i night
Agra 1 night

Comments or suggestions?

Would recommend shaving a day or so off Delhi and Jodphur and try to make it to Jaisalmer.

C'mon, as experienced travelers and stating you want to see some areas with fewer tourists? Well, you are doing a good job of hitting the sstate and sites with the most tourists.

If you don't want to see many tourists, try Pakistan.

Ramalaka,

We prefer to visit India on this trip-- we might do Pakistan next time. Can you suggest an itinerary in India? As I mentioned in my post, we'd like to see a mix of important sites and less visited places.

Fly to Amritsar directly and then go on to kashmir..you dont have much time and Amritsar would give you religion, Kashmir both religion and nature.

Hi ,
As you mention that you people does not want long travel a day by car , then how come you can drive in one day from madawa to jodhpur this will be very long for one day drive and you are spending your much time 3 nights , 2days will be ok in delhi visit ,if you have nothing special (business) activity to do their. Find my suggested Itinerary under below:

Delhi 2 nights

Mandawa/Alsisar 2 nights (Alsisar )village is recently discovered which is non touristy now so you can enjoy to see the real life of that region n (shekhawati)

Kuchaman fort /Khimsar fort one night both are on the way to jodhpur which reduce your travel journey for that day, I highly recommend Khimsar fort.

Jodhpur 2 nights (Accommodation suggestion : Pal haveli in the city centre but very calm in side of the hotel.)

Rawala Narlai 2 nights, not so far from Ghanerao. Location with services are best in narlai.

Udaipur 2 nights
Pushkar 2 nights
Jaipur 2 nights
Samode 1 night

Above itinerary will be very good in practical travel.
