I'm a first-time traveller to india and am going to Mumbai in the fall. I know there's a great deal to see there, but I'll be there for 10 days or so and would like to see the countryside.
Would it make sense to fly to Bangalore and then take the train to Mumbai? Is this even a sensible idea? Is this a sensible idea? Would I be better off coming from another city? Would it be better to just fly to Mumbai and travel out from there? Suggestions? |

Welcome to Mumbai!!! I am sure you will enjoy your stay out here and also see the countryside. I am not sure where you want to go around Mumbai but I would definitely recommend you see the famous caves at Ajanta and Ellora near Aurangabad city which is a train ride away from Mumbai (about 6 hours). Fall would be a nice time out here as it is just after the monsoon season and lots of greenery around wherever you go. The hill stations like Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani are also worth visiting if you want some fresh mountain air!!!
Cheers, Aadil.
