Need suggestion on Kashmir trip

Hi All ,


I am planning trip to Srinagar - Gulmorg-Phalgaon-sonamarg-Srinagar in 3rd week of Aug12 and need suggest on below:-

1) Is Aug is the good time to visit these places and what wld be the temp in these areas during end or mid of Aug?
2) If i have to choose b/w Phalgaon and Sonamarg , which one i shld go for , heard from someone that apart from Thajwas glacier there is no thing to see in Sona marg , is it true or it is worth to visit the Thajwas during Aug?
3) Must do or Visit places in above these destination.

4) We wld be have 1/2 day for Sri nagar sight seen , Will go for SHIKRA ride and after that what are the places we can Visit the same day ? do we require Cab for the same ? ( Agent asking for 1500 rs for 1/2 days tour of srinagar).
5)Any no of Good reliable Cabi cum Guide.

6) Any other suggestion.....

in half day at Srinagar you can visit Mughal Gardens and Shankaracharya temple. Cab Charges are high , charges they are asking is actually for full day visit .
If you find short of time then out of Chasemesahi, Nishat and Shalimar you can drop one ( Out of these best one is Chasmeshahi) and better visit Shakaracharya temple as it provide beautiful view of Srinagar.

Aug is a very good time, weather will be very pleasant

Go for Pahalgaon, Sonmarg is beautiful but Pahalgaon is better acc to me. You will get to see snow in Chandanwari as well. There are beautiful meadows and valleys in Pahalgaon

Agree with paramsregarding opt for Pahalgam instead of Sonmarg.
In August there will not be any snow at Chandanwari.
In Kashmir there are much more than snow, enjoy the lush green valley with vast grassland.
