Need help with itinerary for short trip!!!!
I'm going on the quickest trip to India - I will be taking my parents and it will be their first time there....We will arrive in Amritsar on Feb 10th. We have to be in Chennai by the morning of Feb 15th, where our trip will end two days later. I think this trip will be a little hard for my mom - she wants to make sure we are staying in good hotels - I haven't planned anything yet. One place I would love to take them is Udaipur - which in my opinion is sooooo much better than Jaipur. I also would like them to experience a good drive - I think the Taj Mahal is great and all, but is it really worth it on such a short trip? How would you plan your itinerary between Feb 10th-15th? Would love some suggestions please! I am also trying to see what I can do about leaving for India one or two days sooner.

Taj Mahal is definitely worth a visit. You can do it as a day trip from Delhi.
Convinient over night train available for Delhi-Udaipur journey. You can hire a cab in Udaipur and visit Ranakpur & Kumbhalgarh. Plenty of good hotels in Udaipur. |

5 days between Amritsar and Chennai, your parents first trip, I would spend in Delhi and Agra (Taj, Fatehpur Sikri).

jlynne, your post reads like some random thoughts.
You really need to add more info and try to remember that others don't know what kind of trip you are trying to put together. Do you want to drive from Amritsar to Udaipur? Do you even want to visit Delhi? I'm guessing that money isn't an issue, but only bacause I know it's difficult to get a low cost international flight into Amritsar, from this guess, I'm guessing you'll be wanting to fly in India at some point, then I read that you want to drive.....very confusing, and preventing others from offering useful suggestions.

OP
This is a challenge, but I can think of some possibilities. The important point is cost. From London, Jet Airways flies to Amritsar (but why there - any particular reason - please clarify. OK, from there to Delhi-Agra-Udaipur-maybe Jaipur-Chennai. Doable, with flights, possible. The reason I chose Jaiur is to fly to Chennai maybe via, Delhi or Mumbai. Cheers Nattusbs |
