Need help on an itinerary for Pune-Delhi-Pune trip

Hi folks,

I am new to this forum, have been browsing around and also done some posts.

I am from Pune and am planning to do a Pune-Delhi-Pune trip by road starting from Pune on Dec-25-2009 and want to reach back to Pune on Jan-03-2010

As I have never travelled to North India, I wanted some advice on the itinerary. I did some research on routes on google maps and have decided on Pune-Mumbai-Ahmedabad-Udaipur-Jaipur-Delhi route via NH-8.

Please help me with the itinerary and also some good tips on where to stay, what places to visit (Jaipur, Agra, Delhi, Udaipur etc. etc.), what places can I cover in my short itinerary, places to halt for the night, good hotels etc. etc.

Help me with whatever suggestions and advice you can offer. Thanks in advance for your time and appreciate your help. Please advise me

Since you are driving to Delhi, I assume you want to spend most of the time on the road otherwise you could easily have taken a flight or train.

You can consider going by one route and returning by another. In summer of 2008, I did a 30 day road trip from Pune to Spiti Valley in Himachal and back. While going, we went to Delhi via MP. We took a lot of time where we were driving not more than 200-250 Km a day. You can go much faster and skip some of the places where we stayed.
