Namaste India...Again! :) Monsoon travel suggestions? (August)
Greetings to all India Mikers!
![]() I have been a member since 2005 when I first visited India. I am now planning my big comeback in March 2008 and this time I will spend 8 months travelling around , doing some voluntary work, taking few courses and enjoying life in this wonderful country that stole my heart and opened my eyes to what real beauty means. As I will be there during the moonsoon, can any of you recommend me the best place to be during the month of august. Gracias! xxx Last edited by machadinha : Dec 23rd, 2007 at 01:30. Well -- welcome back home!
![]() There's this running thread that may yield some tips for you: Chasing the Monsoon . As might searching for "monsoon" here in general. (Or you may be wanting to avoid it? In that case, it may yield some tips on where not to go )

I've been to Mahabaleshwar in Maharashtra during Monsoon. Believe me, it was one of the most pristine experiences of Monsoon I ever had.

Thanks for you replies. From what I have been reading on other threads it pours down all over India during August so I guess there is no escape from the rain. I'll try to find a place where the landscape get stunning with the rains ( I also do photography ). The whole month of July I will be doing a yoga course in an asram so I am not that bothered about the weather then.

Chennai is usually dry. Not too sure how much more of Tamil Nadu.
You should, in fact, find that the monsoon has moved on from Southern India. I've spent a few early-August days in Kerala; apart from some heavy showers it was nice

If you scroll through this thread a little, there's a monsoon chart among other things. All highly general of course, but by way of an indication: India climate chart
